At DeveloperWeek 2024, which we attended in Oakland, CA, we found six startups of significant importance for us to consider as essential and empowering tools:
- Sonar offers a static code analysis tool. Their open source plugin, SonarLint, is available in many IDEs. Sonar provides three offerings: SonarCloud, SonarLint, and SonarQube.
- Zuplo: offers fully-managed API management services with initial trial tier.
- Sonatype: Sonatype specializes in software supply chain automation and open-source governance. Even though it is not open source, it is one solution that we ultimately will leverage.
- GitStart: GitStart provides code-as-a-service solutions. It is the Uber for development. They hire developers who deliver readily mergeable pull requests.
- Coder: shifts development from local machines to the cloud. They offer solutions to set up development infrastructure on public or private clouds, facilitating remote on-demand development. The Open Source version is certainly one of the tools we are using.
- Speedscale: Specializes in using production K8s traffic for testing and mock end-to-end tests in microservices environments.
An additional exhibitor, CodePath, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in San Francisco that offers free technical-focused courses to currently enrolled college students. These courses are taught by professional volunteers.
This DeveloperWeek exhibit was particularly exciting for us at this stage of our journey. We are excited to see what the future holds for us and how we can leverage these tools to help us grow and succeed.
